Matthew Gordon
Graduate Teaching Assistant Matthew M. Gordon hails from Paris, Texas. He is in his first year of study for a Master's in Trombone Performance, and currently works as the Graduate Assistant for the trombone studio. He received his Bachelor's of Music Education from the University of North Texas, where he studied with Tony Baker, Jan Kagarice, Vern Kagarice, and Dr. Noel Wallace. While at UNT, Matthew played in the UNT Wind Ensemble, the Brass Band, Concert Band, Jazz Lab bands, and various trombone choirs and chamber ensembles. He was also a member of the Green Brigade Marching Band for three years, becoming a section leader for the trombone section in his third year. Matt recently completed his student teaching at Denton High School and Calhoun Middle School in Denton, Texas. When not practicing trombone, Matthew likes to cook and kayak, though not at the same time. |

Ian Elich
Ian Elick is a junior working on receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Education with an instrumental emphasis. Ian was born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio and graduated from Lancaster High School. Ian studied trombone in high school with various instructors such as David Bode, Nick Wekman, David Gonzales, Dr. William Mathis, and Dr. Sarah Paradis. Ian participated in various ensembles in high school such as the Marching Band of Gold, pep band, wind symphony, holiday brass choir, chamber choir, and concert and symphonic band on trombone, euphonium, and tuba. He also participated in various honor ensembles such as the Ohio University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Bowling Green State University, and Fairfield All-County honor bands, as well as the Newark-Granville Youth Symphony. Ian has participated and performed in many ensembles at Ohio University such as the Marching 110, jazz ensemble 1 and 2, university band, symphonic band, symphony orchestra, wind symphony, trombone choir, trombone quartet, and other small groups around campus. He has taught trombone and low brass at nearby high school band camps for Groveport-Maddison, Alexander-Albany, and Logan-Hocking High School. Ian also enjoys hobbies such as voice acting, tennis, music composition, and drumming. |
Nolan W. Miller
Nolan is an undergraduate student at Ohio University studying music with an emphasis in Trombone Performance through the Honors Tutorial College. Nolan, a graduate of Lake High School in Uniontown, Ohio, studied with the late Linda Hodges and with Dr. James Albrecht at Akron University. He has participated in several performing groups in the surrounding area including the Akron Youth Philharmonic, the Canton Youth Symphony, the Freedom Brass Band, numerous honor bands, concert, jazz and marching band, where he served as section and squad leader. As a high school senior, Nolan was chosen to lead “Script Lake,” received the John Philip Sousa Award and was selected as Senior Soloist. Nolan also participated in the high school show choir and musical productions Bye Bye Birdie and Hello Dolly, taking the lead roles of Conrad Birdie and Cornelius Hackl. At Ohio University, Nolan is active in the Marching 110, the Symphonic Band and plans to audition for the Singing Men of Ohio and Jazz Band. |
